Chapter 70

Hidden in Plain Sight

The Tao’s wisdom is simple, yet few understand or live it. Its depth is hidden beneath plain words, like jade wrapped in rough cloth. The sage treasures this unseen truth in silence.

Hidden in Plain Sight

My words are simple—
easy to understand,
easy to live.
Yet no one seems to understand,
and fewer still live them.

There is a source behind what I say,
a law beneath the surface.
But people do not see it—
and so, they do not see me.

Few recognise what I carry.
And for that reason,
I am precious.

The sage walks in rough cloth,
but carries hidden jade
close to his heart.
