Seeing Without Leaving
True understanding doesn’t require outward seeking. The sage perceives the Tao from within — knowing, seeing, and accomplishing without striving or leaving his place.
Without leaving your house,
you can know the world.
Without looking through the window,
you can see the Tao of Heaven.
The farther you go,
the less you understand.
That’s why the sages
know without travelling,
name things without seeing them,
and succeed
without striving.
